Ease of Play and Use Fixes
Hello travelers,
I got the chance to play Chrono Illogical last night with some new playtesters at Meeple's Brew -- a board game cafe in Morrisville, NC that I happen to work at. There are some perks to being able to plan your own playtest nights. I had a great time being able to play one of my games. So often in the indie game dev world, you have to shift focus to the next project without having the time to enjoy the game you made. After last night, I'm going to focus more on being able to do this more often. We ended up in Ancient Rome with zombies and it was amazing.
The group of us noticed two ease of play fixes that I've already incorporated:
1. Movement - Only being able to move 1 space a turn felt a bit slow at points. I've since changed it to be a 1d4 movement per turn and give the players additional, one-use, bonus 1d4 die when they reach one of their five required destinations. My hope is that it will speed things up to truly make this game a one shot.
2. Expanded Character Sheet - We found just having the prompts on the cards slowed the flow of action down considerably. The fix for this was simple -- put the prompts on the character sheet. Character sheets are now two pages but it allows for more room to record your prompt answers.
That's all for now. I hope your misadventures in time go as well as messing around with the timeline can go.
Best,
Joel
